Day 1

Hike to Base Camp and skills demo Begin your intro to mountaineering course on Mount Baker, focusing on essential skills for alpine climbing. Meet in Sedro-Woolley for a gear check and orientation, then drive to the trailhead for a 3-4 hour hike to base camp. Learn mountaineering basics like crampon use, ice axe techniques, and base camp setup. This hands-on training builds confidence for glacier travel and prepares you for the adventure ahead.

Day 2

Glacier Navigation and Rope Team Skills Immerse yourself in glacier mountaineering with a full day on Mount Baker’s Coleman or Easton Glacier, focusing on rope team dynamics and navigation. Under Mtn Sol Adventures’ expert instruction, practice ice ax self arrest techniques, tying into a rope with secure knots like the figure-eight and butterfly, and master rope team travel for safe glacier movement. Learn route finding, snow climbing, and how to read glacial terrain to avoid hazards. Enjoy North Cascades scenery while preparing for a potential summit push.

Day 3

Summit Attempt and Descent Launch an early alpine start for your Mount Baker summit climb (10,781 ft) via the Easton or Coleman Deming Glacier route. Utilize mountaineering skills like rope management and glacier navigation during the 5-6 hour ascent, reaching the summit plateau for stunning Cascade views. After celebrating, descend to base camp, pack up, and hike back to the trailhead by mid-afternoon. Wrap up your Mtn Sol Adventures course in Sedro-Woolley, ready for future alpine challenges.
